How to take a responsible approach to artificial intelligence?

JCCM

In the last two years, we have seen an acceleration in the adoption of digital technologies and tools like never before. Their development requires a lot of research and development, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.

JCCM President Habi Gerba talks with Ravy Por, Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies at KPMG in Canada, about this timely topic and how to accelerate the responsible adoption of technology within organizations.

The use of artificial intelligence and digital technology is increasingly present in everyday life as well as in various business sectors. But how to successfully make a digital transformation or adopt new technologies within one's company while avoiding bias? That's the question Habi Gerba posed to our guest who works at the Center of Excellence for Data, Analytics and AI, KPMG Lighthouse. Ravy works with her team to pair the latest technologies with human expertise to accelerate innovation and, most importantly, drive responsible technology adoption.

Indeed, the Montreal-based International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology (OBVIA) points out that the artificial intelligence and digital environment is known to be a predominantly male environment, where the representation of women and underrepresented groups is very low. It is essential to take a close look at the consequences these changes may have on one's company, supply chain, teams and processes.

Artificial intelligence, the technology, is there to support decisions, it is a decision support tool.
