A new president for the JCCM Board!
Mélissa Fortin has been a member of the JCCM's Board of Directors for the past three years and is now starting a new mandate as President of the Board!
A certified professional accountant for the past 10 years and a professor in management accounting at UQAM for the past 4 years, Mélissa is currently completing her PhD in administration at Concordia University. Passionate about emerging technologies and how individuals react to these changes, she is basing her dissertation topic on crypto-currencies and the impact of the blockchain on the accounting profession.
What makes her most proud of her involvement with the JCCM is the organization's own mission and the actions taken to achieve it. In particular, she cites the recent socio-financing campaign that allowed 100 young people from underrepresented communities in the Montreal business community to access a customized program. Mélissa also mentions the JCCM's ability to create moments that are conducive to improbable encounters and to the diversification of its network.
As the new Chair of the Board, she has several projects and priorities in mind. She wants to continue the transition of the organization with the strategic planning, while further developing the diversity, equity and inclusion policies!
Humbly, I hope to inspire more women in the city to get involved in governance. I also hope to set an example for my students who are members of the Ordre des CPA du Québec and remind them of the importance of getting involved and sharing our accounting knowledge with NPOs that need it!
The arrival of Mélissa Fortin as president of the board of directors also announces the departure of Jonathan Houle-Mireault, after nearly 6 years of volunteer involvement with the JCCM. Thank you Jonathan for your initiative, your convictions, your dynamism and your joie de vivre! The JCCM team is more than grateful to have had you by its side over the past few years. We wish you the best of success in your future projects!
